Barstool Founder Dave Portnoy Buys Most Expensive Home In Massachusetts History This $42 Million Nantucket Mansion

Brady Wilson is the Founder and CEO of Pampr, a hospitality startup that is trying to transform the guest experience for vacation homes. Wilson graduated from Wake Forest University in 2021 and launched Pampr in 2022. Pampr has been piloting its services on Nantucket for two summer seasons and is preparing to launch its first new market this winter. Dave Portnoy bought a record-setting $42 million home in Nantucket, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the deal. The company declined to confirm reports that Portnoy had purchased the estate, identifying the buyer as Ferry Views LLC and the seller as Mak Daddy Trust & MAK Shack Trust.

Dave, we just interviewed a local business you may want to support, they could be a big help when you visit your new property. Shellie Dunlap of Lee Real Estate acted on behalf of the sellers; the buyer was repped by Peter Engen, also of Lee Real Estate. Not too long before that, another property exchanged hands for a princely sum of $36 million in 2022, as confirmed by real-estate data firm the Warren Group. Portnoy’s journey from founding Barstool as a humble gambling newspaper in Boston in 2003 to becoming a media mogul is nothing short of remarkable.

Both declined requests for comment from The Real Deal on the transaction. The Nantucket Current reported yesterday that Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, paid $42 million for the Monomoy Road compound. This broke the most recent record for the most expensive property sale on Nantucket. Other standout features include a living room sporting a freestanding fireplace and pair of sunburst-inspired chandeliers, as well as a dining area, kitchen outfitted with a marble eat-in island, and primary bedroom suite with a private terrace that has an outdoor shower.

The 1.2-acre property, located in the Monomoy area, sprawls along the Nantucket Harbor waterfront. The owners bought two parcels in 2016 for a combined $13.3 million and custom-built the compound following the demolition of two existing homes. The sale set a residential real estate record for the island as well as the entire state of Massachusetts, according to the Nantucket Current. She cited the robust state of the real estate market and the current demand for move-in ready homes on Nantucket as key factors. In January, Portnoy announced the Chernin Group had bought a majority stake in Barstool Sports. It’s estimated he raked in about $15 million from the deal, though it appears he got a head start on spending that money since he bought the summer house a few months prior.

He’s also been accused of making misogynistic, sexist and racist harassing comments, which he has passed off as jokes, according to the Washington Post. Pampr provides pre arrival delivery of groceries, alcohol, gear & rental equipment via local vendors on Nantucket. Having launched in June 2022, the company has already reached 275 paying customers by the end of this past August.

Portnoy, who is from Massachusetts, has previously invested in Nantucket real estate, having bought a property for around $2 million. He recently reacquired Barstool for $550 million after selling it to Penn Entertainment. He’s also known for appearing in headlines nearly as much as his media company generates them. In 2021, he faced allegations of sexual misconduct from several women, which he denied.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy reportedly purchased a waterfront mansion on Nantucket for $42 million -- the most expensive real estate transaction in the history of the island and the entire state. “At $42 million, the sale has set a new benchmark for residential real estate on Nantucket,” Lee Real Estate said in announcing the sale of the Monomoy Road mansion. The 1.2-acre estate has three dwellings with private beach access, the company said. Dunlap spilled the details, revealing that the main house features four bedrooms, complete with a primary suite offering an indoor/outdoor shower and foldaway glass doors that open up to harbor views. The 1.2-acre property features the main dwelling that’s connected to a guesthouse via an underground tunnel, as well as a recently finished pool. The combined 1.2-acre property features a waterside main dwelling, a guesthouse, and a pool that were completed in 2018 and 2019 by the Nantucket construction firm Reid Builders and designed by architect Andrew Kotchen of Workshop/APD and landscape architect Miroslava Ahern.

For example, when it comes to trash removal and collection, instead of placing your refuse in bins outside of your home to be gathered by a waste management company, homeowners must keep the garbage in bins or barrels away from the curb until scheduled pickup days. According to the Myles Reis trucking company's website, this is "due to the historic nature of the island." When Dave first purchased the home in 2016, he also uploaded a series of videos entitled "Nantucket Living" on YouTube, showing what life on the island is like. Portnoy appeared Tuesday on "Varney & Co," where host Stuart Varney at one point asked the Barstool Sports founder whether he had chosen Nantucket versus Martha’s Vineyard based on politics.

The hotel landscape on Nantucket is distinguished by plenty of posh stays and bed-and-breakfasts alike. The Nantucket Hotel (from $295 per night), which bills itself as the island’s only year-round stay, is a shingle mansion with a spacious wraparound porch, and has a past life as the 1891 Point Breeze hotel. Besides the hotel’s history, its homemade popovers, plush bathrobes, and complimentary ferry pick-up and drop-off service contribute to a feeling of home. The Wauwinet (from $240 per night), a Relais & Chateaux hotel, a sister to the White Elephant, and Nantucket’s grande dame, is located on the more remote northeastern tip of the island.

In 2015, The Wall Street Journal reported tunnels were becoming more common as a unique amenity for wealthy homebuyers. The 1.2-acre compound is located in the Monomoy area, "on one of Nantucket's most enviable sites," according to Workshop/APD, the architecture and design firm behind it. Portnoy spent an additional $2 million on furniture and other extras that came with the home, sources told the Journal. High demand combined with limited availability have driven prices to astronomical heights. This year, venture capitalist Evan Jones and his wife, Cindy Jones, managed to fetch $38.1 million for their Nantucket waterfront compound, despite initially listing it for a cool $56 million.

The company is targeting transient resort-style communities that are home to a large number of short-term vacation rental properties. They will be launching their first new market in November in a West Coast location with a high volume of short-term vacation rentals. And in summer 2024, they are aiming to expand to a new East Coast market in addition to Nantucket.

Portnoy’s reported purchase tops the summer sale of a nearby home that went for $38.1 million. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Portnoy appeared to confirm the purchase of the property. Peter Engen of Lee Real Estate, who represented Portnoy in the deal, declined to provide comment when reached by Insider. "In the big markets, people who are paying cash for $3 million homes want something that no one else has," Ron Syrnyk, an interior designer who had designed a tunnel to a wine cave for a client, told the Journal at the time. Examples of tunnels featured in other homes include an "Alice in Wonderland"-inspired tunnel that leads to a children's playroom and a 70-foot tunnel that crosses under a road to grant easier access to the beach.

With changing stations, a plastic mat that leads from the parking lot to the water, showers, volleyball nets, and a playground, Jetties is accessible and stress-free. It is the world of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, a natural splendor where rare species—such as double-crested cormorants and piping plovers—gather, and for travelers, it is a world-class destination ideal for kicking back. So much more than just a summer town, Nantucket is a beauty in winter, fall, and spring.

The properties at 72 and 68 Monomoy Road were sold in March 2016 by the Anathan family to two blind trusts for a combined $13.3 million. The existing dwellings were then torn down and the properties were completely redeveloped. Both the buyer and the seller were represented in the deal by the Nantucket firm Lee Real Estate. Broker Shellie Dunlap represented the seller, while agents Peter Engen and Bruce Beni represented Portnoy.

Current News

In August, the Massachusetts-native paid $1 to repurchase it, having previously sold it to PENN Entertainment for some $500 million, FOX Business reported. Two grantors appeared on Sept. 29 property records, while Ferry Views LLC did so as the grantee. The Wall Street Journal reported Portnoy’s eye-popping $42 million purchase on Sept. 29. The home, built on a pair of land parcels totalling 1.2 acres, sits near the sea shore in Monomoy, part of Massachusetts’ island of Nantucket, according to the outlet. The home sits on nearly a full acre of land, and the property includes a pool and a view of the ocean. Dave Portnoy, the polarizing founder of Barstool Sports and pizza maven, recently bought a luxe Nantucket compound for a record-breaking $42 million, the Wall Street Journal reported.

An additional $2 million worth of furniture and other items were also included in the sale, The WSJ reported. The deal was conducted off-market and Shellie Dunlap of Lee Real Estate represented the sellers, a pair of trusts known as MAK Daddy Trust and MAK Shack Trust, according to records. Lee Real Estate called the sale “a new benchmark for residential real estate on Nantucket,” The Boston Globe reported. “I went from being able to afford renting for a day to a weekend to a week to a month to renting for the entire summer to buying a house to now buying a house beyond even my wildest imaginations.

On Friday, the Boston Herald reported the sale of a Nantucket home to Portnoy, though he bought the house in November 2015. According to land records, he coughed up $2 million for the grey-shingled four bedroom.

The prior record of $38.1 million, set in June, now seems like chump change in comparison. For something more casual, Nantucket is also home to killer sandwiches. The Straight Wharf Fish Store, where locals pick up fresh catches to cook at home, also serves prepared foods like lobster rolls, chowder, and a fried swordfish sandwich. The BLT, on home-baked Portuguese bread is beach fare at its best; while the avocado, chutney, and cheddar is salty-sweet perfection. The famous Terry Terrific, which comes with turkey, herb bread stuffing, and cranberry sauce, is another hit. Book far ahead and order some Champagne to pair with their oysters on the waterfront.

The sale marks the priciest deal to have ever been conducted on the island and in the state of Massachusetts, besting the previous record of $38.1 million, which was set in June. When reached for comment, both Dunlap and Engen confirmed they were involved in the sale. However, they declined to comment on whom the parties they represented were, with Dunlap saying the real estate company does not disclose details about clients. Compass’ Matt Breitenbach and Greg Gould represented both the buyer and seller in the off-market deal.

The secret tunnel, reminiscent of something out of a James Bond movie, adds an element of intrigue. The sellers acquired adjacent parcels for a combined $13.3 million back in 2016, only to raze two existing homes and replace them with the compound that now graces the island. This off-market deal has not only set a new record for Nantucket, but has also smashed records across Portnoy’s native Massachusetts, as property records show. Nantucket home prices climbed steeply during the pandemic as demand in vacation markets surged while supply remained limited. Since then, price growth has calmed down a bit, however, and the median sale price of a home in Nantucket County was down 40.6 percent year over year in August to $3.24 million, according to Redfin. Portnoy sold his media company to Penn Entertainment for about $550 million in February 2023, and was able to purchase it back for $1 in August when Penn hit red tape with Barstool after signing a deal with ESPN.

Dave Portnoy’s Nantucket House in Photos

Portnoy recently bought back his sports media site from Penn Entertainment, exiting the sportsbook industry. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission last year approved a license for a Barstool-themed betting book at Plainridge Park Casino in Plainville, but not before raising questions about past comments made by Portnoy. NANTUCKET - Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports who grew up in Swampscott, has reportedly bought a Nantucket home at a record-setting price. A person with knowledge of the sale confirmed to the Boston Globe that Portnoy was the buyer, and Portnoy appeared to provide confirmation on social media. Portnoy, who did not respond to messages seeking comment about the sale, previously owned real estate on Nantucket located on High Brush Path off Hummock Pond Road and has been a frequent visitor to the island for many years.

The transaction, which Lee Real Estate confirmed in a statement to Forbes, includes another $2 million in furniture, the Current reported. Nantucket, often seen as an enclave of the elite, has seen its property prices soar since the onset of the pandemic. Today, Barstool Sports is known for producing online content, podcasts and videos, with Portnoy himself hosting the popular online show “One Bite Pizza Reviews,” where he traverses the globe in pursuit of the perfect slice. Shellie Dunlap, representing the sellers and hailing from Lee Real Estate, declined to comment.

PENN sold Barstool back to Portnoy last month as part of a $1.5 billion agreement the Pennsylvania-based company landed with ESPN for a new sportsbook called ESPN Bet. Portnoy filed a defamation lawsuit against Insider in February 2022, claiming the outlet “knowingly disregard[ed] the truth.” The suit was dismissed in November. The 1.2-acre pair of waterfront properties at 68 and 72 Monomoy Road feature a 5,200-square-foot main estate with a two-bedroom guest house and pool in Nantucket’s Monomoy neighborhood, giving the homeowner a sunset view over Nantucket Harbor and the island’s historic downtown. The mansion and guest quarters have six bedrooms, nine full baths and two half baths among them, according to Lee Real Estate’s listing. In the main house, it features "multiple sets of accordion glass walls evoking the feeling of being one with the harbor when open," the listing said.

The property now has a main residence designed by Andrew Kotchen of Workshop/APD, with  four bedrooms and a primary suite with an indoor-outdoor shower and spectacular harbor views. The compound also includes a pool area and guest quarters, accessible via an underground tunnel. The founder of sports media company Barstool Sports, Dave Portnoy, has purchased a waterfront Nantucket estate for a record $42 million, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

The buyer on the deed is listed as Ferry Views LLC, registered to local attorney John Brescher. The seller was listed as Steven Cohen as trustee of the Mak Daddy Trust and trustee of the MAK Shack Trust, according to property records. Nestled in the coveted Monomoy area, this prime piece of real estate sprawls across approximately 1.2 acres, showcasing views of Nantucket Harbor. Portnoy is best known for Barstool Sports, the company he started about two decades ago.

Disney Cruise Line ships from newest to oldest a complete list

newest disney cruise ship

In general, Disney's newest ships are bigger and more amenity-packed than its older ships. If you crave the most possible activities in a Disney cruise vacation, you'll want to stick to the line's three most recently built vessels. Some other cruise line's private islands, like Norwegian's Great Stirrup Cay, don't have a dock, so cruisers must take tender ships (small boats) from the cruise ship to the island. Overflowing with Disney enchantment, staterooms aboard the Disney Wish are a luxurious, peaceful hideaway at sea designed for families, featuring ample space, plenty of storage and upscale amenities.

Plus, just off Serenity Bay Beach is a fun beachside bar serving up drinks and snacks. Castaway Cay is about 1,000 acres — though not all of it's developed — so it can take a while to talk to and from the ship to different spots on the island. One of the biggest perks of Castaway Cay is that the ship docks right at the island. Up next will be Disney Treasure, slated to debut in December 2024 and homeported from Port Canaveral, offering 7-night Eastern Caribbean and Western Caribbean itineraries.

Getting around the island is easy with the complimentary tram

Disney Cruise Line casting directors will soon begin the search for performers looking to take on the role of a lifetime onboard the Disney Treasure. Those interested in auditioning for “Disney The Tale of Moana” can find more information on DisneyAuditions.com. As a blog reader, you’re invited to follow along on this page for an exclusive look into the complex shipbuilding process. This archive will document all the important milestones of the Disney Treasure’s journey. If you prefer smaller ships that are easier to navigate and more on the intimate, low-key side, consider booking a cruise on one of the older Disney ships.

Fun Facts About the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy

The bow block was held in position with the help of a high-precision laser scanner until it was fully welded to the foreship. As the Disney Treasure takes form, this moment marks the first time that the iconic silhouette of the ship can be recognized. As with all ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Treasure takes its inspiration from classic ocean liners of the early 20th century with a modern flair. This Disney Treasure update is coming to you from Celebration, Florida, the headquarters for Disney Cruise Line. Today, the Disney Cruise Line team is thrilled to be debuting an artist rendering of the ship’s stern for the very first time!

Each Disney ship has four captains - the ship's captain, Captain Mickey, Captain Hook and Captain Jack Sparrow. Fairytale Hall - Young royals can craft floating lanterns at Rapunzel's Art Studio, act out their favourite stories in Belle's Library, and even create their own ice magic at Anna & Elsa's Sommerhus. The Walt Disney Theatre - Sit back and get lost in Broadway-style live shows - including Disney's Aladdin - a Musical Spectacular plus 2 all-new, original productions.

Disney Just Revealed Details About Its Brand-new Cruise Ship — With a Magical New Theme

Sunshine meets fun time on the upper decks of the Disney Wish, home to 10 pools and water play areas-inspired by Mickey and his pals. Or toy around at Toy Story Splash Zone, featuring larger-than-life rubber bath toys and the Slide-a-saurus Rex family slide. Combining inventive design, cutting-edge technology and classic storytelling, the Disney Wish seamlessly brings Disney magic to life in new and unexpected ways, while creating the next generation in family entertainment. Disney unveiled exterior images and a brand-new filigree artwork for the bow of the ship, which is a Disney Cruise Line signature design tradition. The image depicts Minnie Mouse in a commanding, hero-inspired pose while donning her signature bow, along with a cape.

That makes the two oldest Disney ships a good choice for someone who wants to try a Disney cruise but isn't eager to travel with huge crowds. The oldest ships in the Disney fleet thus appeal to a subset of Disney fans who prefer more intimacy in a cruise vessel and don't mind giving up some onboard amenities to get it. The first of the vessels, Disney Wish, debuted with a whole new array of Disney "wow" on board, from the "Star Wars"-themed Hyperspace Lounge that offers a "window" view of passing starships to Marvel- and "Frozen"-themed restaurants.

In addition, cabins on Disney Wish include seven ocean-view rooms located over the bridge, a first for Disney Cruise Line. The rooms have extended living areas with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bow and out across the ocean. If that isn't enough, there also are four Royal Suites with a "Sleeping Beauty" theme, two of which feature a two-story floor plan. The coast guard said the ship was 180 miles northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, when the rescue was carried out.

Portfolio Project Management Executive Philip Gennotte and Project Management Executive Mike Davie from Walt Disney Imagineering Germany laid the newly minted coins. Disney Cruise Line has revealed the name of the third Wish-class ship on the same momentous day that the keel has been laid for the new vessel, planned for delivery in 2025. Every cruise ship needs a Godmother - the Disney Dream's is Jennifer Hudson and the Disney Fantasy's Mariah Carey. Quiet Cove - Retreat to this relaxing, adults-only refuge-featuring an infinity pool, bar and poolside lounge-dedicated to swimming, savouring drinks and soaking up the sun. Adults can dine, relax and immerse themselves in magical settings designed just for them on the Disney Wish - from upscale restaurants and sophisticated lounges to an expansive pool area. Step into the magical worlds of some of your favourite Disney stories and feast upon delectable, gourmet specialities at 3 all-new, upscale family restaurants. Other adult favorite dining such as The Rose, Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement will offer amazing views and gourmet meals. You’re bound to have a magical time, just as is befitting the Disney name. Since this ship did debut about three decades ago, it has received some upgrades since then.

A rescue swimmer was then deployed from the Jayhawk onto the cruise ship and was able to prepare the patient for evacuation. Footage released by US Coast Guard Sector San Juan shows the evacuation of the 35-year-old US citizen from on board the cruise ship. There's also the adults-only lunch spot where I always enjoy a beachside barbecue. The best part about seeing the characters is that the lines to take pictures with them are never long. On a recent sailing, I saw Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto all in 30 minutes. Ceremonial coins have been laid under the keel in a time-honored maritime tradition, with the hopes of bringing good fortune to the vessel’s construction.

AquaMouse - The adventures of Mickey and friends will be brought to life like never before on AquaMouse - the first-ever Disney attraction at sea. The weather in Germany may have been rainy, but spirits were high thanks to the completion of another maritime milestone for the Disney Treasure – the Keel Laying Ceremony. As a part of the ceremony, a newly minted coin is placed under the keel of the ship to foster good fortune for the ship and its crew in the years to come. Just like the steel-cutting ceremony, keel laying traditions date back to the times of wooden ships. The coin itself is quite unique and depicts a carved portrait of Captain Minnie Mouse, sporting a fashionable new adventure outfit designed for the new ship. The bow of the Disney Treasure has made its way to Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, arriving today aboard a barge with the aid of a helpful towboat.

The sculpture was modeled in the image of the famed Disney Legend, Rolly Crump. And the fact that today is Rolly’s birthday makes this Ship’s Log reveal all the more special as the world remembers him and his many contributions to Disney Parks. To date, as of Spring 2023, the largest Disney cruise ship is Disney Wish, which launched in 2022.

Disney's two oldest cruise ships — those built in the 1990s — are about 40% smaller than the line's newest vessels and have fewer venues on board. Still, even these smaller ships offer a lot of attractions as compared to many vessels at competing lines. Disney Adventure – the former Global Dream cruise ship – is scheduled to debut in spring 2025 and at 208,000 gross tons will be the largest ship in the fleet. She will homeport from Singapore, offering magical Disney cruise vacations in an entirely new region. Today, the team at the Meyer Werft shipyard cut the first piece of steel for the Disney Treasure. Sparks were flying as a special machine called a plasma cutter, which is housed within the yard’s laser cutting room, was used to cut the steel in the shape of a Disney cruise ship.

This photo showcases a first step in the installation process for the ship’s bow filigree, which is being protected by a large tarp. The outline of the design has already been sketched out in red ink on the ship’s surface and will be completed at a later point in the construction process. Like past Disney cruise ships, Disney Fantasy features a vintage aesthetic, leaning Art Nouveau in its public spaces and staterooms. Both Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream are a little bit larger than the Disney cruise ships that came before them. However, even with that extra size, the ships are still relatively intimate and easy to navigate.

Norwegian Bliss Cruise Ship Norwegian Bliss Deck Plans Norwegian Cruise Line

norwegian cruise line bliss

It's simply a refined indoor haven of calm, and we've never seen anything quite like it on a mainstream ship. Additionally, passengers do not need to make reservations ahead of time for any of the complimentary dining restaurants and can choose when to dine at anytime. Guests can choose to make reservations for the specialty dining venues onboard, but many of the restaurants do not require it. One of the best things about Norwegian Cruise Line is their freestyle cruising motto and mantra.

Dining

And don’t forget to order our made-from-scratch jumbo crab cakes and a side of our famous truffle fries. The sizzles and surprises never cease at our authentic Japanese hibachi restaurant. Sit around a lively shared table as a skillful chef slices, chops and grills steak, seafood and chicken on a large steel grill right before your eyes. One of three Main Dining Rooms aboard Norwegian Bliss, The Manhattan Room is where guests can enjoy specially curated modern and classic dishes made with the freshest ingredients.

Notes

Plus, our Main Dining Rooms offer a menu that changes daily, Chef's Signature Dishes and carefully selected wine recommendations, guaranteeing a different culinary adventure with every visit. These decks are where the outdoor activities are on the ship. On these decks you’ll find the race track, laser tag, and mini golf. The Vibe Beach Club is also there, it’s an adults-only sundeck lounge. It is good to note that all of these, except the mini golf, cost extra and can sell out.

Deck Fourteen

Note that the “Classic Entrees” are available every night, but I only posted them for night 1 to avoid repetition. The Daily Feature will rotate, but the remainder of the items will be offered every day. Click deck pictures to go to individual cruise deck plan pages where you can see all the public areas, venues and stateroom cabins categories for each deck. I also greatly appreciated that there was a wide variety of food options at the buffet in general.

Plenty of Hot Tubs and Pool Spaces

Private keycard access complex comprised of staterooms specifically designed and priced for the solo traveler. Featuring a full-size bed, a virtual window and separate areas for your bathroom, sink and shower. While we do wish there were a fewer extra charges (especially for the laser tag, which was our favorite top deck activity), there is still lots to keep you busy.

Norwegian Bliss (2018-built) is the third of all four Breakaway Plus-class Norwegian Cruise Lines ships– together with the sisterships Norwegian Escape (2015) Norwegian Joy (2017) and Norwegian Encore (2019). He laid a “lucky coin” before the first keel block was lowered into place. On October 28, 2016, the vessel's construction officially started with the steel cutting ceremony. Instead of the traditional water method (injecting the metal with heat), for NCL Bliss was used the dry plasma method - for more precise cuts and creating less mess). The boat has 20 decks, of which 16 are passenger-accessible and 11 with cabins.

The Aqua Park, pools, and main sun deck space are all found on this deck. The Mandara Spa, beauty salon, and fitness center are on this deck as well. If you’re traveling with kids, there are three kids club areas depending on the ages.

Norwegian Bliss Itineraries

This can be a great option for guests wanting to watch the sunset or enjoy ocean views while still being inside. There are some really great laying down loungers at the very front of the Observation Lounge; however, this area becomes very busy around sunset time. Deciding beforehand if you will try out any or all of the extra paid-for activities onboard will help you to decide on and manage a budget for your vacation.

And, a few hours luxuriating in a good book on a comfy chair in the Observation Lounge can't be beat. But Norwegian Bliss can only mimic a small upscale vessel to a certain extent. Once onboard, guests can reference the times that all of the complimentary restaurants, as well as specialty dining, are open each day in the Freestyle Daily. This is a great indoor venue that offers awesome floor to ceiling water views.

The ship also features many family cabins (connecting staterooms) across most categories. They have more restaurants on board than you can count with both hands. One of the things we personally love the most about NCL is their Freestyle Dining program. Norwegian Cruise Line allows you flexibility with no fixed dining times or pre-assigned seating. The relatively large diversity and amount of itineraries that the Norwegian Bliss offers allows guests many different types of cruise vacations they could choose from.

At max cruising speed, ship's engines consume ~11 tons of diesel fuel per hour. NCL Bliss new "scrubbers" (exhaust gas cleaning systems) as technology reduce the equivalent of approx 1500 tons of Sulfur Oxide (poisonous gas). The five in-line scrubbers are lightweight and able to operate in a dry mode, as well as in open and closed loops. The liner also features Heat Recovery Systems, energy saving LED lighting, improved hydro-dynamic (hull design).

With access to The Haven, these Penthouses feature a king-size bed, 1.5 bathrooms, plus dining and sitting areas. Perfect for the family, these Villas are located in The Haven and feature two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed, the other with a double sofa bed, plus additional bedding and two bathrooms. A Sail Away Inside stateroom guarantees an Inside stateroom or better! Your stateroom may be on any deck and assigned between time of booking up to one day prior to embarkation. Looking for a getaway without the need to fly far, then Norwegian has options for you.

Some incredible destinations to visit on a world cruise include the Norwegian Fjords, New Zealand's Fiordland, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, The Whitsunday Islands, ancient Petra in Jordan, the Caribbean and South-East Asia. Discover stunning ports across the globe, and enjoy serene sea days on board, when you join Queen Mary 2 or Queen Victoria for a World Voyage sector in 2024.

Luxury cruise lines offer posh accommodations on smaller ships with an emphasis on service and typically have many more inclusions (think, freely flowing champagne and caviar). Premium lines are slightly larger ships with more entertainment and good-quality service and food, but they aren’t necessarily as inclusive (you might pay extra for some food, beverages, and services). Big cruise ships offer a greater choice of staterooms, plenty of pools, gargantuan spas, and flashy live shows—you won’t get bored. The 2,550-passenger MSC Magnifica is the home base for the 116-night journey. The itinerary features port calls at 50 destinations across 21 countries in the Mediterranean, South America, the South Pacific, Australia and Asia. Among the cities you'll explore are Puerto Madryn, Argentina; Rio de Janeiro; Casablanca, Morocco; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Phuket, Thailand; Broome, Australia; and Auckland.

Explore countless buck-list attractions in Asia, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, North and South America. This cruise also brings you to 50 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and some of the world's greatest cities as well as more remote locales, offering striking contrasts in architecture, fashion, music, culture and cuisine. Daily activities will keep you entertained while onboard, while organised excursions or solo trips let you see a magnificent range of towns and cities at your leisure. Solo-specific events mean that meeting other travellers is as easy as sitting down to dinner, while you’ll have a comfortable solo cabin to come back to at the end of each day. Choose the right cruise and you’ll get all of this while avoiding the common ‘singles surcharge’. At each port, the vessel will stay docked for multiple days to allow its passengers to explore at their leisure.

European river cruises are the only option that Riviera offers for solo travellers, with seven routes that cover the continent’s main rivers. Prices include all the same features as a standard booking – such as excursions, onboard meals and Wi-Fi – but with spacious single occupancy cabins and welcome dinners to help you meet people. Solo bookings also include the ‘superior’ drinks package, which gives guests an extensive selection of alcoholic drinks available both at lunch and between 6pm and midnight. The Rhine and Moselle package is their most affordable, starting in Cologne and taking you to beautiful towns like Koblenz and Rudesheim. Regardless of the cruise line, a world cruise offers the convenience of unpacking only once and a balance of lazy sea days and busy port stops.

You'll have laundry services (among other complimentary treats) included in your fare, and can buy almost anything you need at ports. Focus on bringing a basic wardrobe built for laying in different climates, and any special items you know you can't easily buy, as well as medications and other need-to-haves. You won't want forget to pack bathing suits for Mexico, for example, or a coat for colder destinations. The 51 destinations in 27 countries, including 25 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, visiting six continents, and crossing the equator twice, as well as a full transit of the Panama Canal.

This will depend on your nationality and which ports you call at, but the likelihood is you will need to apply for some visas if you're embarking on a world cruise or world cruise sector. Visa requirements differ from country to country, even within the same continent, and in some countries, those visiting on a cruise ship may need a different visa to those entering the country for longer periods by land or air. It's best to list out the ports of call included in your itinerary in order and then spend a little time researching the visa stipulations of each.
